While we're playing the waiting game, Kurt and I figured we would take bets on when our baby boy will arrive and how big he will be. Right now I am happiest with Amy since she picked the date CLOSEST to today! :)

37 Weeks- and STILL Counting...

We had our 37 week appointment today. I am now dilated to 3cm and 50% effaced. Still making progress which is good! It's so strange wondering if I will make it to work tomorrow and the next day, or if this will be it! This is difficult for me- the PLANNER! However, it's really fun to think that our little boy could surprise us anytime and change our world FOREVER. :)

Have we picked a name? After searching through 5 baby name books for several months, we have 3 sets of firsts and middles that we like. We decided we would make a decision once we meet the little guy. It's definitely much harder than we thought to agree! We figure we'll have to decide at the hospital- and that all of you will HAVE to like it then! :) HA!

Kurt and I feel prepared. We've finished the nursery, gone to the Prepared Childbirth Class and Breastfeeding Class, turned our downstairs into a mini Babies R Us, put the car seat in the car, done all of the baby laundry, packed our bags for the hospital, and read a variety of books about how to raise this little fella. We're just waiting...

Kurt and I have officially finished the nursery! Whew- that feels good! It was a blast to do, but we couldn't have done it without the help of my parents and sister- thanks y'all!

Kurt and I had a friend offer to take some pregnancy pictures for us. We enjoyed it! However, as fun as it was, I think I'm ready for this little dude to come into the world!

35 Weeks and Counting...

Kurt and I went to the doctor today. We are supposed to be leaving together for San Antonio tomorrow for the Kids R Kids Owner's Conference. But, those plans were halted for me! I am 2 cm dilated and 50 percent effaced. Needless to say, my doctor said better to be safe than sorry and stay around here. She joked that if I called her saying that my water broke that she would make me stay in San Antonio and deliver there. Her little joke worked- I definitely didn't want to be stuck in San Antonio without my doctor, hospital, insurance, etc! Imagine a 5 hour ride home from the hospital with our little one! How funny that would be!

Anyway, Kurt went to the conference without me (I was totally bummed to miss it- this conference is one of the highlights each year for me!) But, he did come back with a platinum award for our school- how exciting!

More Pirate Fun in Houston!

Wow! Kurt and I are so blessed! We are so grateful for all the friends and family that we got to see at the baby shower in Houston. The hostesses did an awesome job, and it was so much fun to get to catch up with so many people! Once again, the pirate decor was adorable. It was neat to see all the little details, and the food was awesome!

Lots of ladies having a good time- I was grateful that GiGi (little guy's great grandma) and Le came in town for the event.

There were lots of "Aaawwws" just like at every baby shower. It is amazing how CUTE little socks, shoes, and onesies can be!

We all had fun listening to the little pirate bear sing- I think our little boy will get a kick out of that!

It's Baby Shower Time!

My sweet lifegroup friends threw my first baby shower in Dallas. It was so much fun, and I was SO impressed with all the pirate decor! What a fun day! Kristin made an AMAZING pirate ship cake! I don't know how she does it! The fruity mocktails were yummy- and cute! Thanks girls for all your hard work and creativity- I will always remember what a fun experience my shower was!

Gender Party!

Kurt and I invited friends and family over for a gender party to celebrate that we are having a SON! It was so much fun to hang out and enjoy everyone's presence! We got to see some Baylor friends- Audra, Lauren, Cannon, and Megan. And, we are especially grateful that many of our family members could come in town to celebrate with us- Kurt's parents, my parents, Amy and Ruston, and of course little Grier! They were so helpful getting ready for the party. It was special to have my aunt Tracey from Garland enjoy the evening with us. She was an incredible help as well- and we appreciate the "baby" cupcakes she made from scratch for the occasion!

And Baby Hutson Is...

Wow! What a fun day- one I will always remember! The sonogram was amazing! The doctor started at the baby's head- measuring and looking for all the body parts- neck, spine, femur, heart, legs, etc. Although our little one was moving like crazy, the doc was able to see everything he needed to see. I cried when he said that he couldn't be happier with what he saw- from a sono standpoint, our little one looked perfect!

I was eagerly waiting for him to get to the gender part! But of course by this point, the baby had fallen asleep and was not interested in spreading its legs! I was so nervous that out little one wouldn't cooperate for us to find out the big news to reveal at the party that night. After shaking my stomach several times to get the baby to wake up, the doctor said, "Well, it's undeniable...

IT'S A BOY!

I was completely shocked and SO happy! Of course I cried again- you've gotta love those pregnancy hormones! Kurt was grinning from ear to ear- clearly proud of his unborn son! What an exciting ride home- I couldn't get over how shocked everyone would be- my family, the lifegroup, and all the others that thought it was a girl. This was going to be fun! The best part was that the doctor had recorded the sonogram on DVD. We had him fool everyone on the sonogram by at first typing "It's a GI" and then backspacing over the "GI" and typing "BOY!" We were anxious to be there while everyone watched it!

Counting Down the Hours

Well, we have one more day til we find out the gender of little Baby Hutson. Of course I am having fun with this and enjoying the suspense of counting down the days. Kurt on the other hand, is patiently waiting- calm like always. I know he's excited though! We went to Babies R Us to start looking at furniture a couple of days ago, and Kurt picked out an outfit for the baby that says, "Feed me or no one sleeps!" He thought it was so cute, so of course we had to buy it!

Right now the count for girl vs. boy is 14 to 10, with "girl" in the lead.

Will Baby Hutson be the first granddaughter in the Harnden family, a sweet cousin for Baby Avery, and the first baby girl in the church lifegroup?

Or, will it be a baby boy to become buddies with Grier, Jace, Caleb, Brayden, Jack, Tristan, and Parker?

Let's hope the baby doesn't fool us all by not cooperating at the sonogram!!!

I Feel the Flutter!

I'm 19 weeks today, and I felt the baby move for the first time! It was this little flutter that made me think, "What was that?" I quickly realized it was my little one inside me! What an amazing feeling- like a little butterfly inside me. I can't wait for Kurt to be able to feel it as well. It is really neat to think about how God created pregnancy and the little life inside me- what an incredible miracle!

Week 16!

It is officially week 16, and Kurt started taking pregnancy pics of me! I don't think I can hide it at this point. :) Finding clothes is not easy or fun, but knowing that we will find out the gender of the baby in four weeks is encouraging! We're holding out for November 13th!

I'm still very tired, but the headaches have subsided, and I have still not had an ounce of morning sickness! Praise the Lord! Life is not slowing down at all, so there's no time for feeling bad.

The doctor's appointment was very short today. We heard the heartbeat again today- still going fast at 157/minute! This, along with all the dreams I'm having makes me think it's a girl! I have dreamt it's a girl several times and only once that it was a boy! I wonder if that means something...

Kurt refuses to bet one way or the other-he just says that he wants at least one boy eventually! We're both excited about either possibility- we just want to know! Our friends and family are invited to the gender party we're having on the night of November 13th- we can't wait to reveal the big secret!

9 Week Sonogram!

Our second dr.'s appointment was today! We got to hear the heartbeat for the first time! It was so cool! The heartbeat was 159/minute- so incredibly fast! We could also hear a little gurgling sound when the baby moved- it was amazing!

I've had no morning sickness at all! I'm definitely VERY tired- Kurt has become accustomed to me falling asleep on the couch at about 9:00. And, if I get 3o minutes to take a short nap during the day, I definitely take advantage of it! Other than that, I have had several headaches. But, I am more than thrilled that I have not felt sick! Let's hope that continues.

We're Pregnant!

Well, we went to the doctor today- here is our little one's first picture! The official due date is March 31, 2009. That seems so far away! The baby is only 9.6mm, but right on track for only 7 weeks. We go to the doctor again in two weeks to do another sonogram. The doc says all looks good at this point. So, it's our secret to keep until we tell everyone at about 10 weeks!

Off To London and Greece!

Well, after a year of busyness with Deloitte and Kids R Kids, we were blessed with 10 days to get away and enjoy some R&R! What a trip! Lots of great stories with the Formans!

London

The first- and one of the funniest memories of the trip happened at the London-Heathrow Airport. Since we used frequent flyer miles to book the flights, the Formans and us were unable to fly the same airline. So, Kurt and I arrived in London with the expectation that the Formans would be a 1/2 hour behind us. So, after speedwalking across the entire airport to meet up with them, we find out that their flight was canceled! After investigating the situation, we found out that their plane had to turn around and head back to the U.S. after flying three hours- due to leaking hydrolic fluid! Yes, a bit of a problem! So, unfortunately the Formans were unable to come to London and enjoy the one day blitz around the city.

Kurt and I enjoyed touring London. We went to the Texas Embassy for lunch, took the London Eye to see the entire city, saw Westminster Abbey, took a look at Big Ben, and went to Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guard. Here is Kurt taking a little nap on the London Eye!

Since Kurt and I had been awake for about 30 hours straight, we were exhausted by the time we arrived at our hotel around dinnertime that evening. Tired and hungry, we searched for something to eat for dinner. Everything was SO expensive in London, that we resorted to having a $30 McDonalds dinner- not exactly what we had in mind, but it was the cheapest thing we could find!

Well, Kurt and I got to visit Baby Grier at home for the first time last weekend. What a joy it was to hold him, feed him, and love on him! He is such a good baby! As long as he's fed and changed, he just sleeps! It was also great to see Ruston and Amy as parents. It seems to come quite naturally to both of them. Amy is incredibly gentle with him, and Ruston is such a sweet dad. I can tell he is amazed by the little guy! I love being an aunt to 2 great nephews, and Kurt is getting a little "taste" of what is to come in a couple years.

Baby Grier Is Here!

My nephew, Grier Parker Johnson, was born on Wednesday, February 28th at 6:22am. Isn't he a cutie? We are happy to finally know his name, and we LOVE it! Grier is 7 lbs, 15 ounces and is 18 and 3/4 inches long. Grier has spent some time in the NICU for low blood sugar. He has a feeding tube to help control this. Amy did extremely well after her c-section. She was up and moving around Thursday. Amy went home Sunday, and Grier is expected to go home later this week. Please pray that he gets his feeding tube out soon and that he stays well. Also pray for Amy and Ruston- the new and happy parents!

What an Interesting Birthday for Mom!

On Sunday, February 25th, just 2 hours after I returned to Houston from Las Vegas, we got the call that Amy and Ruston were headed to the hospital. We had planned on going out for mom's birthday that night, but those plans were quickly put on hold! After spending the rest of the day at the hospital waiting for the doctor to decide when to bring Baby Grier into the world, we decided to celebrate mom's birthday in Amy's hospital room on Tuesday, the 27th, which we later found out was the night before Baby Grier would be born. Mom sure didn't mind the change of plans for her birthday celebration! She would get the greatest present of all the next day- her first grandchild! So, mom opened her presents in the cold hospital room, and we had Black Magic Cake (poor Amy couldn't have any- aren't we mean)?!?!? In the end, I think mom enjoyed the celebration!

My Love, My Valentine

Kurt and I enjoyed Valentine's Day. He got home around 7:00 and we went to a little Italian place in Allen called Joe's Italian Bistro. It is a cute little restaurant that looks like Italy inside. Then, we went home, made chocolate fondue, and watched LOST!

LBJ's Nursery

Little Baby Johnson (my sister's first baby) is set for arrival on March 15th! They are keeping the name a secret- torture! Here are pictures of the nursery that was recently finished. Ruston and Amy worked together to create the theme "Rock & Roll!" Is that cute or what? The painted wall (that looks professional) was done by Ruston, and my very own mom sewed some of the bedding and pillows. Impressive! This baby is going to be sleeping "in style!"

Our nephew, Jace Hutson, is turning 1 on February 16th! His birthday party was a blast! He had a double party with one of his friends from church. It was at Kidopoly (an after-school activity center that Kurt's parents own next to their Kids 'R' Kids). Jace enjoyed "beating on" his cake and having all the attention! He also got lots of neat presents!

Billy Bob's Texas

On Saturday, January 27th, we visited Billy Bob's Texas- the world's largest honky tonk! Yes, that is what they call themselves! We had a great time with people from our life group at church. We discovered that we are not that great at country western dancing, but we did throw the idea of dance lessons around! Wouldn't that be interesting?!?!?!

Our Puppy

Syre turned 1 year old on January 21, 2007. We celebrated with ice cream, new bones, and a frisbee! Syre enjoyed his first experience with snow this past November. He kept trying to catch and eat the snowflakes. It was funny to watch him slip on the ice! Syre loves to go to the dog park and get chased by his doggie friends. At home, he enjoys cuddling, chewing on a bone, and playing tug-of-war. We definitely think of him as part of the family!
